Race 4 of 28

Beautiful conditions again greeted us, with over 100 competitors and 12 new members hopefully the weather gods will shine over us each Saturday morning until at least 08:30am. Madame President Val Lambard is getting sick of carting around lost property, thankfully some of it has been claimed, Carl has been without his shoes for a couple of weeks but they have been collected, we still have a purple towel and some goggles. If they are not claimed by next Saturday they will be donated to a worthy cause.

BEWARE that Twin Towns Triathlon Club operated on NSW time, with daylight saving now in effect in NSW those Queenslandeeeers need to be aware and set you alarm clocks an extra hour earlier. For those starting earlier, you will need to check that you front and rear lights are operational.

A thorn between the Roses

Dr Bike Junior was positioned at the Ash/Amaroo Roundabout and made a few observations, cyclists not having their inside pedal up as they travel around the corner, not being in the correct gear – thats is make sure you don’t have to change gears as soon as you go around the corner, select the appropriate gear before entering the corner. Most cyclists were on the top of the handle bars, where as you have better control and you’re in a better position if you move your hands to the drops.

Our spy monitoring the pink crosses reported that at least 6 cyclists went onto the wrong side of the road crossing the Pink Cross’s, you are on the incorrect side of the road, you wouldn’t do it in a car so don’t do it on your bike!, From next week cyclists detected crossing the Pink crosses with be suspended from racing for 1 week.

Kingscliff Triathlon is coming up soon, Mike Crawley the Race Director gave  short talk, letting us know that entries expect to close in a couple of weeks, so if your keen, get on line and register. As in the past, Twin Towns Triathlon members have volunteered to marshall at various locations. We are looking for about 20 members to assist on race day 1 December.

Double Distance is on 19 October, YOU WILL NEED FRONT AND REAR LIGHTS  so if you haven’t got any yet, you can get expert advice from any of our sponsoring bike shops, Palm Beach Supercycles, Storm Cycles, South Tweed Cycles and Kingscliff Cycles. Just tell them I sent you for an extra special discount.

Marshalls for next Week 12 October

ed you assistance to volunteer for 1 weekend, it will save me nagging each week. Please take a moment to have a look at the roster and pick a saturday. I need Fraser/Amaroo and Woodlands filled first.
