We had around 75 starters with very cool conditions and a magnificent rainbow to the west to start the swim leg at 6am. We welcomed the return of Laura Kelly and her official Canadian escort Vice-president Val on the bike & run legs. We had a few new triathletes who managed to unknowingly follow each other & do a longer bike course but all worth the extra training & still smiling at the end!
Monthly Handicap Winners
The four weekly handicap winners for the month of November were
Travis Coleman Andrew Costello Chris Watt Nic Bergman
The winner of the $100 Services Club voucher was Andrew Costello. There is no redraw and the prize money can be collected at your next tri Andrew. Congrats!
The winner of the ‘Russ Evans Memorial towel’ for being the leader of the yearly points core at the end of November is Danny Khazen. Danny’s new Twinnies Tri suit is being acknowledged for the improved performance!
Dr Bike Paul
It was on to the front wheel componentry…..brakes, skewers, bearings, quick release, spokes and resultant issues! In essence check your skewers each month
Sealed bearings can wear out & cause vibrations …check also
Quick release taper should be smaller on the inside otherwise brakes won’t work & the wheel can be offset
Check spokes & ‘nipples’
In summary, a regular bike check up at your local dealer will enhance both yours and your bike performance!
If you want to compete in Club Championships you MUST do a marshaling duty so see Doug ‘Scratcher’ Neil for details.
