We had a great response to our on-line registration with over 70 people electing to go that way, all up following todays sign on we have 160 members signed up.

No doubt more will continue to register each week when the word gets out Twinnies is back racing again, could everyone try to get there at least 5 minutes earlier to allow for the masses to be processed.

Remember when racking your bike, its alternate, no handle bars next to each other.

Marshalls for the first week are
Fraser/Amaroo – Lee Butcher    Woodlands Drive RAB – Kylie Findlay

Thank you to everyone who has volunteered to marshall, we have the first 19 races covered, I still need 14 more nominations to complete the marshalling roster, so please put your hand up. I don’t want to be chasing people the entire season! Send me an email with your nominated date and location.

We understand that for some reason or another you cannot make your commitment, but I have a list of people who can cover you at the last minute,( not 05:55am Saturday morning). To compete in the club championships you MUST have completed a marshalling point (and 12 races).

Drafting, what is it and how can you avoid it? Essentially the bicycle portion of a triathlon is an individual time trial. The key point being individual. It is the objective of the triathlete to overcome one enormous force, aerodynamic drag, on their own, without any “boost” from other competitors. Therefore, drafting is the act of riding behind another cyclist in an area of reduced air pressure created in the wake of that leading cyclist. The trailing or drafting cyclist uses less energy to maintain the same speed as the cyclist they are trailing. This creates an unfair advantage. Drafting another cyclist during a triathlon is outright illegal. So, let’s focus on how we can avoid drafting and the time penalties and disqualifications associated with it.

For information in relating to drafting have a look at this post .

We look forward to seeing you every saturday, remember if you have a problem with anything arising from our event, please see one of the committee ASAP.
